German Germany
How different is the German in Switzerland, German in Germany?

Ok, I am fluent in German, and I'm taking a trip to hear europe.And Switzerland speak German speaking differently. How differently? As I have trouble understanding them? or is it just a little different, as the states U.S. English form? I mean to America from England

This is a dialect and most Germans will understand 'Swiss German " at least the Germans in southern Germany. There are German dialects that are much more difficult to understand that "German-speaking Switzerland. In addition to everyone in the Swiss German speaks German "standard" as well, since it is the official language used at school and in the media (radio, television, newspapers). @ Alucard not sure what region of Germany to come, but his answer is wrong! Dutch is not understandable is another language and I have never heard of a German being unable to understand 'Swiss German', and I travel frequently Switzerland! As I have said I do SWITZERLAND travel very often so maybe become accustomed to these dialects are also very similar to the German dialects in Alsace (France), maybe that helped me too. But the state can not understand German Swiss is ridiculous! Yes I was in Bern, in fact I travel there almost every year since I have friends who agree that "Bernduetsch 'is one of the Swiss dialects harder to understand, yet much easier for a southern German Dutch! For me, there is even dialects within Germany, which I think they are more difficult to understand for example, "Kölsch" or "Platt" since both are mixed with other languages. However That might be different for someone living near this region and throughout Germany to find a lot of different dialects.I never had any difficulty understanding any of the dialects of the south as the 'Austrian' and 'nobody Swiss' and really have never known anything but said he could not understand all these.
